ATHENS, AL – Aaron Batson won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Georgia Division 72 tournament, held February 15, 2014, on Lake Sinclair.
Running out of Little River Marina near Milledgeville, the Oxford, GA angler caught five bass weighing 14.77 pounds with a 4.33-pound kicker. For the victory, Aaron took home a check for $502. Aaron caught his fish on jigs and slow-rolling a spinnerbait.
In second among these AFT competitors, Josh George, of Loganville, GA, caught five bass weighing 9.95 pounds with a 3.01-pound kicker and pocketed a check for $298.
Taking third place, Barry Stokes, of Covington, GA, caught three bass weighing 9.17 pounds with a 5.95-pound kicker and pocketed a check for $97.
Barry Stokes of Covington, GA, won the big bass contest with a 5.95-pound lunker and won $110 for big bass.
In fourth place, Kip Carter of Monticello, GA, caught four bass weighing 8.54 pounds with a 3.83-pound kicker. Tommy Banks of Covington, GA, rounded out the top five competitors with three bass weighing 6.32 pounds.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held March 8, 2014 on Lake Oconee near Buckhead, Georgia.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
