Gabe Yeargan Takes the Win at Chickamauga

Gabe Yeargan Takes the Win at Chickamauga

On a very wet and cold day from Division  30 Southeast TN  on December 14, 2013 Gabe Yeargan from Whitwell TN won his second consecutive division 30 tournament and won $326 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Chickamauga Lake this past weekend. With very tough fishing conditions Gabe managed to get two quality bites to bring home him the win. Gabe’s two bass weighed in at 12.25 pounds. This was Gabe’s second tournament with Division 30 and he seems to be on a roll! He also won the big fish award with beautiful 7.22 pound largemouth.  Second place went to Mark Riggs with a weight of 7.65 lbs, Third place was Sam Morgan with a weight of 6.39 lbs.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top four anglers were:
1.     Gabe Yeargan    12.25 Lbs.
2.     Mark Riggs            7.65 Lbs.
3.     Sam Morgan         6.39 Lbs.
4.     Greg Lamb           5.17 Lbs.

Conditions: Raining and cold in the morning with a low of 38 degrees remaining very cloudy and foggy with an occasional shower and high’s in the mid 40’s

Winning Strategy: One of Gabe’s fish was caught on a lipless crankbait fished around scattered grass. While the other came on a Jerkbait .

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be January 11, 2014 on Nickajack lake at Shellmound Ramp.
