Tim Bailey Takes First Place at Chickamauga

From division 30, Southeast TN on March 9th Tim Bailey from Lafayette GA. is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $468 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Chickamauga Lake this past weekend. Fishing in his first season the American Fishing Tour Tim landed one big largemouth that tipped the scales at 8.89 pounds, giving him the win and big fish honors. Second place went to new member Tracy Maddux with a weight of 7.31 pounds. Third place was Don Lamb with a weight of 5.72 pounds.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top five anglers were:
1. Tim Bailey           8.89 Lbs.
2. Tracy Maddux     7.31 Lbs.
3. Don Lamb           5.72 Lbs.
4. Duane Parker     4.76 Lbs.
5. Eric Cabrera       4.07 Lbs.

Conditions: Clear and cool in the morning with lows in the mid 30’s. Clear skys gave way to some afternoon clouds and temps in the low 60’s for the daytime high. Water temps ranged from 47.0 to 49.5 degrees.

Winning Strategy: Tim’s fish was caught on a Tennessee rig fished around deeper rocky banks relating to bait and current.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be April 20th on Nickajack Lake at Shellmound ramp.
