From Florida Division 20, February 9, 2012 - Bill Barrett of Tavares, Florida took home first place from the American Fishing Tour divisional one-day on Lake Harris Chain of Lakes. Running out of Buzzard Beach landing near Tavares, the Tavares, Florida, angler caught five bass weighing 21.37 pounds and also took big bass honors with a 8.97 pound kicker. For the victory, Bill Barrett took home a check for $405. Bill caught his fish on a green pumpkin lizard.
In second among the competitors, Tim Van Dalen of Grand Island, Florida, caught 5 bass weighing 19.24 pounds with a 5.00 pound kicker. Tim caught his fish on Worm and pocketed a check for $228.
Taking third place, Dean Morris of Tavares, Florida, caught 5 bass weighing 18.10 pounds with a 6.43 pound kicker. He caught his fish on Rattle Trap and pocketed a check for $71.
In fourth place, Mike Calloway caught 5 bass weighing 14.76 pounds with a 4.50 pound kicker. John Barrow of Tavares, Florida, rounded out the top five competitors with 5 bass weighing 14.43 pounds.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held March -9 -2013 on Harris Chain of Lakes out of Buzzard Beach Ramp
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
