Brandon Rummel Wins at Stockton Lake

Brandon Rummel of Everton, MO won the American Bass Anglers D126 qualifying tournament held on Stockton Lake January 12, 2013. Rummel weighed in a 5-fish limit that went 13.44 pounds anchored with 5.41 pound Big Bass of the tournament. Second place was Carl Cox of Aldrich, Missouri with a limit that weighed 11.41 pounds. Rounding out the top three, third place went to Brent Algeo with 11.28 pounds. Anglers reported the fishing being a little slow for Stockton, but were biting a jerk bait, A-rig and crank baits.

A major cold front was moving in, with pre-dawn temperature at 50 but by 8:00 launch time it had dropped to 40˚ with 10-15 mph NNW winds. Weigh-in started at 2:00 p.m. about an hour before the rain started and temperatures dropping even more.

Anglers compete for cash, prizes and points which qualify them to fish a 2-day Championship on Stockton in July 2013 and a National Championship on Clarks Hill Lake in Georgia October 23-25, 2013. There will be five more 1-day tournaments and a 2-day Championship held on Stockton Lake. The best four 1-day tournament points and the 2-day points determine year-end point totals for the D126 Angler of the Year award.

The next D126 tournament is scheduled for February 17, 2013, launching from Old State Park Ramp. The rest of the schedule is posted at www.centralmidwestbass.com. You can also view full results with pictures of this and other tournaments.

ABA is designed for the week-end angler and is open to boaters and non-boaters. It is a draw format with partner pairing taking place the morning of each tournament. Anglers from age 14 can enter these tournaments.
