Doug Thompson Wins at Lake Hamilton

Division 47 of ABAs American Fishing Tour held its third qualifying tournament of the 2013 season on Lake Hamilton launching from the fish hatchery ramp 8 Dec 2012. Overcast skies and unseasonably warm temperatures greeted the fishermen on the day. The warmer temperatures have kept the water in the upper 50s to lower 60s keeping the fish scattered and not hunkered down in their typical late fall places.

As usual, it was a “limitfest” on Lake Hamilton and those that could find at least one bigger than average keeper did well. Overall, 30 anglers caught 119 bass for a total weight of 166.46 lbs.

Doug Thompson brought in 5 bass that weighed 11.54 lbs for $611. Doug also landed a 5.45 Hamilton toad worth $150. Doug used jigs all day and took home a total of $761 for his effort. Jeremy Campbell hauled in second place with a total weight of 9.72 lbs and Cletus Gartman rounded out the top three with 9.06 lbs.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be 5 January 2013 on Lake Ouachita launching out of Mt. Harbor.
