Mike Tamburello Wins Division 5 Championship

From Division 5, New England East, on August 25 & 26, 2012 , Mike Tamburell, of Brockton, MA is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held @ Barton’s Cove on the Connecticut River, Gill, MA. Mike weighed in a limit each day which consisted of 10.02 lbs. on Day 1 & on Day 2 he followed that up w/a 13.30 sack & had a total 2-day weight of 23.32 lbs. This was Mike’s 3rd consecutive Division 5 championship win and we congratulate Mike for being Division 5’s "Triple Crown Winner"! The big bass winner was Paul Leblanc who weighed in a 3.41 lbs. largemouth bass.

The angler’s points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

Conditions: It was a hazy hot & humid day w/air temps in the high 80s w/surface water temps in the high 70s & low 80s in some areas. The mild variable SSW @ 5-7 mph.

Winning Strategy: Mike’s pattern was to target smallmouth bass, in the early morning bite w/a Pop R, in the river current in 5-7 feet of water. After the fog burned off, he again targeted the smallies in deeper water with a small hand tied black jig tipped w/a black pork trailer.

Next Divisional Tournament: Division 5’s Early Bird tournament on September 9th, 2012 will be held @ Wequaquet Lake, Centerville, MA at the Town Ramp..
