Brandon Cobb Takes First Place at Greenwood
From South Carolina Division 96, August 26, 2012 – Brandon Cobb of Greenwood, SC won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, South Carolina Division 96 1-day qualifier tournament, held August 26th 2012, on Lake Greenwood, running out of Greenwood State Park near Ninety Six, SC. Brandon caught 5 bass weighing 15.72 pounds for the victory and took home a check for $475. He caught his fish on a mixed bag of lures on the middle part of the lake. His lures were crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits and soft plastics fish around brush piles, docks, wood and points.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title for the 2013 season. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament. |
In second place of these AFT competitors, Phillip Anderson of Saluda, SC. Phillip Anderson caught 5 bass weighing 14.31 pounds including tournament big fish at 6.84 pounds. Phillip pocketed a check for $358.
In third place was Mitchell Kneece of Saluda, SC. Mitchell caught 5 bass weighing 12.62 pounds. Mitchell pocketed a check for $71.
Weather was pretty nice for this one. We started at 65 degrees and were at 89 degrees by weigh-in. Mostly sunny with wind out of the SE at 5 mph.
The next divisional tournament will be held September 23, 2012 on Lake Murray out of Dreher Island State Park near Prosperity, SC.
