From South Carolina division 96, July 22, 2012 - Pat Vance, of Sumter, won the July 22nd Division 96 one-day qualifier on Lake Wateree, running out of Clearwater Cove Marina, near Camden. Pat caught three bass weighing 5.52 pounds for the victory and took home a check for $321. Pat caught his fish by flipping soft plastics around wood on the upper part of the lake. In second place of these AFT competitors, Mark Richardson of Irmo. Sean caught 3 bass weighing 4.27 pounds. Sean pocketed a check for $145. In third place was Ed Matthews of Columbia, SC. Ed caught just one bass but it was good enough for 3rd place and big fish weighing 2.23 pounds. Hot weather along with a new 14 inch minimum length this year made this a tough tournament. 9 anglers brought only 10 bass to the scales.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title for the 2013 season. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held August 26, 2012 on Lake Greenwood out of Greenwood State Park near Ninety Six, SC.
