Carl Cox Goes Deep For The Win

Carl Cox Goes Deep For The Win

American Bass Anglers Division 126 held their last one-day tournament of the 2012 season July 14, 2012 on Stockton Lake. The weather has been in a hot, dry pattern for several weeks and was no different for this tournament. Water temperature reached 88-90 by weigh-in time with air temperatures in the 90’s and a light south wind.

Two anglers managed to find a five fish limit which put them in 1st and 2nd place. Carl Cox had a final weight of 14.14lb, anchored by Big Fish of the day, a 4.28lb largemouth. Cox reported catching a high number of keepers in deep brush piles on a plastic worm.

Visiting angler, Dale Picheilmayer had the other limit that weighed 8.54lbs and put him in 2nd place. Third place went to Jay Carter with four fish weighing 7.40lbs; right behind him was Justin Curnutte with four fish that went 7.13lbs.

The next tournament is the 2-day Championship set for August 18-19, 2012 launching out of Old State Park. Anglers must have fished four 1-day tournaments to qualify for the 2-day Championship. The D126 Angler of the Year will be determined at the 2-day. That angler will then be qualified to a “Fish-Off” to be held October 19-20, 2012 on Hudson Lake in Oklahoma. The format is “winner-take-all”; the prize is a fully rigged Triton Bass Boat.

Anglers fish for cash and prizes from several local sponsors including Rogers Fishing Hunting and Archery in Lamar, Albers Marine in Arma, KS, Happy O’s Sportsman’s Resort, theoutboarddoctor.com, mobassfishin.com, Maxima Fishing Line, and Eagle Claw Tackle Co. Watch and listen for reports in the El Dorado Springs Sun, the Cedar County Republican and 107.7 radio station.
