Jamey Collette Wins for The Second Time at Nickajack

From Southeast Tennessee Division 30 June 23,2012 - First year member Jamey Collette from Subligna, Georgia took first place in his third ABA tournament of the year. Jamey took home $382 for his effort in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Nickajack Lake this past weekend. Jamey’s 5 bass limit weighed in at 13.75 pouns his catch was anchored by a 4.02 lb largemouth. After two previous finishes of first and second, Collette said in brief statement after the tournament “I was sitting in a good position to contend for Angler of the Year” “The director called me and encouraged me to come back and fish more so that I could qualify for the two day event in July and a chance to win AOY”. I missed that chance due to some prior commitments; I wish I could have adjusted my schedule so I could have fished more of these events!

Second place went to Gary Carter with a weight of 12.50 pounds. Third place was Eric Cabrera with a weight of 12.43. Eric also received big Fish honors for catching a 4.24 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top five anglers were:
1. Jamey Collete       13.75 Lbs.
2. Gary Carter          12.50 Lbs.
3. Eric Cabrera         12.43 Lbs.
4. Dwane Rogers     10.93 Lbs.
5. Roger Chisenall  10.41 Lbs.

Conditions: Clear with bright sunshine, very hot and muggy. The morning time low was 72 degrees with and afternoon high around 95 degrees. The lake was down about a foot with good clarity and water temps in the low to mid 80’s.

Winning Strategy: Jamey’s five fish limit was caught in 6 feet of water over grass on a swimbait and a crankbait.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be July 13th & 14th, 2012 on Chickamauga Lake at Chester Frost Park.
