Rodney Oberdick Takes First Place at the Potomac River

June 9, 2012, Rodney Oberdick from Felton, DE took First Place and $624.00 in the Maryland, Division 11 American Fishing Tour with 5 bass weighing 18.31 pounds. He had his work ahead of him with almost no clouds to cool the 90 degree air and very little wind to catch a breeze. Rodney’s overcame these obstacles by staying on the move all day, beginning upriver in the morning; with low tide he threw top water baits in the mouths of creeks. As the tide came in he moved down river to main river and creek mouths to top off his limit using soft plastics. It was the moving from place to place to pick off a good keeper that made his day successful.

Pat Loewy took Second Place with a weight of 17.43 pounds for a limit of five fish. Third Place went to Scott Randall with another limit and 15.60 lbs. Scott also weighed in Big Bass at 5.16 lbs. Mark Allan Sipos took the Fourth Place position with 15.29 lbs. Taking Fifth Place is Ralph Davis with 14.55 lbs.

Rookie Report: (Rookies in D11 are ages 14 – 18) Chandler Dowling for his second tournament with Division 11 performed like a pro taking fish all day and producing a limit that weighed 9.33 lbs. This kid is someone to watch. He is beyond his years in his fishing skill and positive approach.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be June 24, 2012 out of Smallwood State Park.
