Tom Dupuis Takes First Place at Congamond Lake

Tom Dupuis Takes First Place at Congamond Lake

From Division 6 in Connecticut on June 9, 2012 - Tom Dupuis from Terryville Connecticut is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $299 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Congamond Lake this past weekend. Tom’s five bass limit weighed in at 16.58 pounds. Second place went to Sean Lloyd with a weight of 14.55 pounds. In third place was Chris Bielert with a weight of 13.04. Big bass was also awarded to Tom Dupuis for catching a 4.90 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top five anglers were:
1. Tom Dupuis      16.58 Lbs.
2. Sean Lloyd       14.55 Lbs.
3. Chris Bielert      13.04 Lbs.
4. Rob Liss             7.01 Lbs.
5. Brian Schulte      6.61 Lbs.

Conditions: It was cloudy all day long with a few sprinkles during the day.  It was calm with the water temperature in the high 60’s to low 70’s.

Winning Strategy: Because of the cloudy and calm conditions, Tom was able to use a topwater bait all day long.  Every fish caught was on top with the bass holding in very shallow water.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be 6-30-12 on Candlewood Lake at the Squantz Cove Launch ramp.
