Paul Leblanc Takes First Place at South Watuppa

From Division 5, New England East, June 10, 2012 - Paul Leblanc, of Medway, MA is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $593 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on South Watuppa Pond, Fall River, MA this past weekend. Paul’s five bass limit weighed at 10.34 pounds. Second place went to non-boater Vernon Santos with a weight of 11.21. And following in third place was Mike Tamburello with a weight of 9.82 pounds. Big bass was awarded was to Mike Tamburello for catching a 4.09 pound largemouth bass.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top 5 anglers anglers were:
1. Paul Leblanc          10.34 Lbs.
2. Vernon Santos      10.21 Lbs.
3. Mike Tamberello       9.82 Lbs.
4. Brian Tuholski          9.76 Lbs.

Conditions: It was a warm & hazy (high 60s) at registration but warmed up into the high 80s during weigh-in. Water temps were in the high 70s..

Winning Strategy: Paul’s was fishing top water black Cavitron buzz bait on the windy shore line & a 1/2 black Grizz jig tipped w/a black Zoom trailer & he fished that on the rocky shore lines.

Next Divisional Tournament: Division 5’s next tournament will be July 8, 2012, Long Pond, Freetown MA at the State ramp.
