Todd Rose Takes First Place at Highland Lake

From Division 6 in Connecticut Todd Rose from Stafford Springs is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $360.00 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Highland Lake this past weekend. Todd’s five bass limit weighed in at 11.64 pounds. Second place went to Gary McClarran with a weight of 11.13 pounds. And following in third place was Frank Pollifrone with a weight of 9.51. Big bass was awarded was to Gary McClarran for catching a 3.23 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top five anglers were:
1. Todd Rose             11.64 Lbs.
2. Gary McClarran     11.13 Lbs.
3. Frank Pollifrone        9.51 Lbs.
4. Rich Monocchi         8.79 Lbs.
5. Tom Dupuis              7.68 Lbs.

Conditions: The anglers finally were able to fish on a sunny warm spring day.  The day warmed up into the mid 70’s with a breeze.  Water temperatures were in the mid 60’s.

Winning Strategy: Todd indicated most of his fish came on various plastics but other fisherman caught fish in all manners.  Carolina rigs, flukes, jigs and senko’s dominated the day.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be June 9th on Congamond Lake at the Southwick Mass State Launch Site.
