John Hutchins Burns Up The Potomac

From Division Maryland’s Division11, John Hutchins from Warrenton, VA. has leaped into the lead, and moved closer to the ABA National Championship winning both 1-day events July 24 and July 25. John’s 1st Place wins earned him a total of $1063.00. On Saturday John’s 5 bass limits weighed in at 18.78 lbs. and on Sunday John weighed in another 18.84 lbs.

John started Saturday morning throwing Spro popin frogs and Fish Belly Ninjas to the edges of grass on the main river, changing over to Conquistador spring craw, targeting holes in the grass as the sun came up. Moving around was the key factor to his success. On Sunday John moved to hard cover on the main river with slow deliberate presentation, allowing the tide to move his bait naturally. Both days were very hot with Saturday reaching 100 degrees and Sunday around 98 degrees.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be August 7, 2010 from Smallwood State Park.

The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
