Mark London Wins on Northwest River

ATHENS, Ala. – Mark London won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, VA Division 3  tournament, held June, 8th, 2013, on Northwest River.

Running out of Bobs fishing Hole landing near Chesapeake, the Chesapeake, VA, angler caught 5 bass weighing 10 pounds 49 ounces with a 2.27 pound kicker. For the victory, London took home a check for $147.

These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.

Dale Hart Wins D94 Tournament on Savannah River

Dale Hart, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and earned a total of $281 in the American Fishing Tournament held on the Savannah River this past weekend. Hart weighed in the only five bass limit, which weighed 7.78 pounds. Second place went to Lucio Marroquin with two bass weighing 4.66 pounds. And third place went to Barry Descaro with three bass weighing in at 4.12 pounds. Big bass honors also went to Lucio Marroquin who caught a 2.55 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points in an attempt to insure their birth in the ABA National Championship for the 2013 season.

Mitch Pierson Wins on Lake Hopatcong

ATHENS, AL  – Mitch Pierson won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, New Jersey Division 10 tournament, held June 16, 2013 on Lake Hopatcong.

Running out of Lees Park landing near, MNT. ARLINGTON, NJ. Mitch Pierson of NEWON, NJ caught 5 bass weighing 14.49 pounds with a 3.99-pound kicker. For the victory, Pierson took home a check for $388. Mitch caught his fish on jigs in deep grass. Pierson also won the big bass contest with a 3.99-pound lunker, collecting an extra $75.

In second among the competitors, Lucus BOGOSIAN, caught 4 bass weighing 8.25 pounds with a 3.58-pound kicker.  Lucus caught his fish on JIGs and pocketed a check for $201.

Taking third place, Art Vitale of Kenilworth, NJ caught 5 bass weighing 7.42 pounds with a 2.16-pound kicker. He caught his fish on jigs and pocketed a check for $71.

Mike Black Takes First Place at Nickajack

On a very sunny, warm day from division 30, Southeast TN on June 15th Mike Black who was visiting from Toledo Illinois brought home a first place win and $405 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Nickajack Lake this past weekend. Fishing as a non-boater Mike’s five bass weighed in at 14.92 pounds. Second place went to Jerry Goodner with a weight of 13.10 pounds. Third place was Sam Morgan with a weight of 12.83 pounds. Big Bass Honors went to Josh Watts for catching a 4.38 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. George Bideaux Takes First on the Mississippi

From Division 46, Illinois/Mississippi River on June 9, 2013 – George Bideaux took home a first place with a tremendous win on the Mississippi River. George’s five bass weighed in at 17.64 pounds, he also had the biggest bass of the tournament with a 5.79 pounder. Second place went to Dorsey Lane with a weight of 16.13 pounds. Third place was Jay Burgaraf with a weight of 15.86 pounds.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. Toby Cheneweth Takes First on the Mississippi

From Division 46, Illinois/Mississippi River on May 5, 2013 – Toby Cheneweth took home a first place with a tremendous win on the Mississippi River. Toby’s five bass weighed in at 19.22 pounds, he also had the biggest bass of the tournament with a 5.67 pounder. Second place went to Clint Adams with a weight of 15.48 pounds. Third place was Steve Paytash with a weight of 14.66 pounds.

Sal Riccobene Takes First On Elephant Butte Lake

Sal Riccobene from New Mexico Division 60 is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win in an American Fishing Tour Divisional Bass Tournament held on Elephant Butte Lake on June 2, 2013. Sal’s five bass limit weighed in at 14.47 pounds that included a 8.03 Big Bass!

Conditions: Weather was clear with light winds and lake levels falling at a rate of 6 inches per day.

Randy Gillestie Takes First On Elephant Butte Lake

Randy Gillestie from New Mexico Division 60 is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win in an American Fishing Tour Divisional Bass Tournament held on Elephant Butte Lake on June 1, 2013.  Randy’s five bass limit weighed in at 10.98 pounds that included a 3.27 Big Bass!

Conditions:  Weather was clear with light winds and lake levels falling at a rate of 6 inches per day.

Jason Dies Takes First On Old Hickory Lake

Lebanon, Tennessee angler, Jason Dies, took first place at Tennessee Division 31’s tournament, held June 9, 2013 on Old Hickory Lake. Running out of Bull Creek landing, near Gallatin, TN, Jason caught five bass weighing 14.45 pounds, including big bass of the tournament weighing 5.45 pounds. For the victory, Jason took home a check for $264.

Second place went to Carl Pope with a weight of 8.45 pounds. And third place to Alvin Pannell with 5.20 pounds. Fourth place went to Fred Needham with 4.00 Pounds.

With a front coming through and Rain for half of the day, Jason did a great job in reading what the fish would do with the weather conditions.

Rob Lawhon Takes First on Lake Talquin

From Division 76 Talquin on June 8 & 9, 2013  -  Rob Lawhon, from Quincy, Florida, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $860 in the American Fishing Tour Divisional Bass Tournament held on Lake Talquin this past weekend. Rob’s ten bass weighed in at 41.52 pounds. Second Place went to Mickey Roach with a weight of 34.47 pounds. In third was Bobby Smith with a weight of 32.59 pounds. Big Bass went to Chad Everett with an 8.49 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Steve Christie Takes First Place on Clarks Hill Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – Steve Christie of Gray Court, SC won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, South Carolina Division 96 1-day qualifier tournament, held June 2, 2013, on Clarks Hill Lake , running out of the Dorn Boating Facility near McCormick, SC.

Steve caught 5 bass weighing 18.12 pounds and took home a check for $688. Steve fished the lower part of the lake with Trick Worms on a Carolina Rig for all his fish.

In second place of these AFT competitors, William Hooker of Appling, Ga. William caught 5 bass weighing 17.68 pounds. He was also fishing the lower part of the lake and caught all his fish on a fluke including the tournament big fish at 7.18 pounds. William took home a check for $562.

John Ogolik Wins on Twin Lakes

ATHENS, AL – John Ogolik won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 tournament, held June 1, 2013 on Twin Lakes. Running out of O’Hara’s landing near Salisbury, the Terryville, Connecticut; angler caught five bass weighing 13.85 pounds with a 5.08-pound kicker. For the victory, John took home a check for $259. John caught his fish mostly on a jig and pig.  He concentrated on drop offs near deep water and wood structures.

In second among the competitors, Rob Liss of Glastonbury, Connecticut, caught five bass weighing 12.47 pounds with a 4.92-pound kicker. He caught his fish on plastics and pocketed a check for $84.

Taking third place, Jason Martinelli of Roxbury, Connecticut, caught five bass weighing 9.32 pounds. He caught his fish mainly on deep diving crankbaits.

Barry Descaro Wins on Savannah River

Barry Descaro, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and earned a total of $365, in the American Fishing Tournament for the 2013 season held on the Savannah River this past weekend. Descaro weighed in five bass that weighed 6.70 pounds. Second place went to Sean Murphy with four bass weighing 5.76 pounds, and third place went to Dan Martin with five bass weighing in at 4.42 pounds. Big bass honors also went to Sean Murphy who caught a 2.46 pound largemouth.

Keith Bardolf First Place at Lake Seminole

From Division 114 Seminole May 26, 2013 Keith Bardolf, from Enterprise, Alabama, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $480 in the American Fishing Tour Divisional Bass Tournament held on Lake Seminole this past weekend. Keith’s five bass weighed in at 22.06 pounds. Second Place went to Bobby Smith with a weight of 20.57 pounds. Third Place was Ralph Mosley with a weight of 16.08 pounds. Big Bass went to David Brown with a 7.03 pound largemouth.

Fahler Tops Field at Bone Creek

ATHENS, AL – Bryan Fahler won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Kansas Division 58 tournament, held May 25, 2013 on Bone Creek Lake.

Launching from Rocky Point boat ramp, the Independence, Kansas angler caught five bass weighing 20.18 pounds with a 4.68-pounds kicker that was also big bass of the tournament. For the victory, Bryan took home a check for $393.

In second among the competitors, Jason Hay, of Arma, Kansas, caught a limit weighing 18.87 pounds; barely edging out third place angler Scott Tassi, from Arma, who had an 18.82 pounds limit.

Sheron Brown Takes First at Mashpee/Wakeby Pond

From Division 5, New England East, on May 26 2013, Sheron Brown, of Shirley, Massachusetts, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win and $663 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Mashpee/Wakeby Pond, Mashpee MA this past weekend. Sheron’s five bass limit weighed in at 14.84 pounds. Second place went to Toby Slagle with a weight of 13.15 pounds. Third place was awarded to Louie Bernardo with his limit, weighing 10.54 pounds. Big bass was awarded to Sheron Brown for catching a 4.61 pound largemouth bass and he pocketed $170.00 for this impressive fish.

Larry Mongeon Wins on Buffumville Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – Larry won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers,  Massachusetts Division 97 tournament held on May, 19 2012, at Buffumville Lake.

The Brimfield, MA angler caught 5 bass weighing 13 pounds with a 6.62-pound kicker.  For the victory, Larry took home a check for $447, which included $65 for big bass.  Larry caught his fish mostly bed fishing with finesse baits.

In second among the competitors, Sean Lloyd of Springfield, Ma, caught 5 bass weighing 12.59 pounds with a 5.33 pound kicker.

Sean walked away with a check for $190.

Mike Blaesi Wins On Lake Geode

ATHENS, AL – Mike Blaesi won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Iowa East, Division 73 tournament, held May 12, 2013, on Lake Geode.

Running out of Lake Geode, the Dixon angler caught a three bass limit weighing 16.46 pounds with an 8.27-pound kicker. For the victory, Mike took home a check for $299. Blaesi caught his fish on spinner baits and plastics.

In second among the competitors, Bob Peck, of Montpelier, caught three bass weighing 13.64 pounds with a 6.14-pound kicker. Peck caught his fish on spinnerbaits and pocketed a check for $93.

Taking third place, Shawn Carter, of Muscatine, caught three bass weighing 10.57 pounds.

Todd Rose Wins On Lake Lillinonah

ATHENS, AL – Todd Rose won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 tournament, held May, 18, 2013, on Lake Lillinonah.

Running out of the State landing near Bridgewater, the Stafford Springs, Connecticut, angler caught 5 bass weighing 11.23 pounds with a 3.03-pound kicker. For the victory, Todd took home a check for $264. Todd caught his fish on topwater presentations early in the morning and then changed to hair jigs and bedding fish later on in the day.

In second among the competitors, Tom Dupuis of Terryville, Connecticut, caught 5 bass weighing 10.47 pounds with a 3.17-pound kicker. He caught his fish on topwaters and crankbaits.

Tying for second place was Jason Martinelli of Roxbury, Connecticut who caught 5 bass weighing 10.47 pounds.

Tom Dupuis won the big bass contest with a 3.17-pound largemouth. Tom caught his big fish on a topwater lure.

Mike Piccolo Wins on the North East River

From Pennsylvania Division 9, May 19, 2013 - Mike Piccolo wins Division 9 AFT tournament again on the North East River. Running out of Anchor Marina in Maryland, he caught five bass weighing 21.19 pounds.

In second among these AFT competitors, Wayne Alker caught five bass weighing 19.31 pounds. Taking third place, Scott McDonough caught five bass weighing 19.01 pounds. In fourth place, Rick DiIenno caught five bass weighing 18.71 pounds. Rich Przybyl rounded out the top five competitors with five bass weighing 15.81 pounds. The Big Bass award went to Mike Piccolo with a 6.11 pound largemouth.

Ti Takes First On Keystone

From AFT Division 122 Oklahoma, May 18, 2013  – Ti Le won this division one-day event on Keystone Lake, running out of Prairie Creek Landing near Tulsa. The Broken Arrow angler brought in a five fish limit weighing 14.73 pounds with a 3.95 pound kicker. For the victory, Ti Le took home a check for $405. Ti caught his fish on finesse baits.

In second among the competitors, Division 122 Angler-of-the-Year points leader Bryan Klinger caught 14 pounds, including the Big Bass of the day of 4.48 pounds. Bryan caught his fish drop-shotting pre-spawn bass and pocketed a check for $308.

Taking third place was Steve Larue of El Dorado, Kansas with 12.89 pounds which netted him a check of $71.00. In fourth place was Derrick Fagg, of Pawnee, Ok with a five fish limit that weighed 10.37 pounds.

Carl Cox Wins at Stockton Lake

Some of the area’s best bass fishermen gathered at Stockton Lake’s Old State Park May 19 to test their skills against each other and the bass. Changing weather patterns coupled with the changing lake level gave the fishermen a challenge. Aldrich angler, Carl Cox topped the leader board with a five fish limit the weighed 10.91lbs anchored with Big Fish of the day, a 3.78 lb largemouth. Jay Carter of Springfield was a close 2nd with 10.55 lbs, followed by 3rd place winner, Austin Morris of Joplin with 10.05 lbs.
 
Anglers reported using a variety of baits, including crank baits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastic. According to one angler, “Everything I had planned on doing just completely changed after the first hour of fishing. Things were just so different from yesterday.”

Newhouse Takes First on Gaston

ATHENS, AL –  Carlton Newhouse won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Virginia Division 3 tournament, held April 13, 2013, on Lake Gaston

Running out of Holly Grove Marina landing near Bracey, VA, the North Carolina, Carlton caught five bass weighing 18.12 pounds with a 6.59 pound kicker. For the victory, Newhouse took home a check for $303. Newhouse caught his fish on Texas Rigged soft plastics

In second among the competitors, James Funk, of Virginia, caught five bass weighing 11.91 pounds and pocketed a check for $137.

Mike Roselle Wins on the Potomac

Marbury, MD – Mike Roselle won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Maryland Division 11 tournament, held May 11, 2013 on the Potomac River.

Running out of Smallwood State Park the Laplata, MD angler caught bass weighing 14.93 pounds with a 3.48-pound kicker to taking Big Bass. For the victory, Mike took home first place and Big Bass pots. Mike caught his fish by throwing finesse worms into clumps of grass in 2 – 3 feet of water (a popular strategy on the Potomac), on a windy Virginia creek point.

In second among the competitors, Tom Thompson of Falls Church, VA, caught 5 bass weighing 12.45 pounds with a 2.85-pound kicker.

Taking third place, Scott Randall of King George, VA, caught 5 bass weighing 11.44 pounds.

Rob Lawhon Takes First Place at Lake Talquin
