Richard Szczebala Wins on Lake Gaston

Richard Szczebala won the AFT Virginia Division 3 tournament, held April, 12, 2014, on Lake Gaston. Running out of Soloman’s landing near Littleton NC, Richard caught five bass weighing 12.88 pounds with a 3.56 pound kicker. For the victory, Richard took home a check for $303.

These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.

Jason Dies Wins on Old Hickory Lake

ATHENS, Ala. –Jason won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Tennessee Division 31 tournament, held 04/13/2014, on Old Hickory Lake. Running out of Bull Creek landing near Gallatin, the Lebanon angler caught five bass weighing 19.20 pounds with a 5.05 pound kicker. For the victory, Jason took home a check for $405. Jason said, he caught his fish on a fly in the middle of the channel.

In second among the competitors, Matt Stanley, of Nashville, caught five bass weighing 17.10 pounds with a 5.30 pound smallmouth. He pocketed a check for $228.

Taking third place was Clark Cowley, of Nashville, caught five bass weighing 13.25 pounds with a 4.10 pound kicker. He pocketed a check for $71.

Mike May Wins on Tar River Reservoir

ROCKY MOUNT, NC. – Mike May won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, North Carolina: East Division 15 tournament, held April 12, 2014 on Tar River Reservoir.

Running out of Sapony Creek near Rocky Mount, NC, the Sims, NC, angler caught five bass weighing 12.04 pounds with a 3.40 pound kicker. For the victory, Mike took home a check for $224. Mike caught his fish on crank, worms, jigs and top water baits. Mike also won the TWT for $70.

In second among the competitors, Rip Bass of Spring Hope, NC, caught five bass weighing 11.83 pounds. Rip pocketed a check for $84.  Rip won the big bass contest with a 4.35 pound lunker.

Rob Eckle Wins on Lake Ray Roberts

Rob Eckle won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Texas Division 112 tournament, held April 12, 2014 on Lake Ray Roberts.

Running out of Sangar Park landing, near Sangar, TX, the Burkburnett, Texas angler caught five bass weighing 16.90 pounds with a 4.10 pound kicker. For the victory, Rob took home a check for $281 Rob caught his fish on a Texas Rigged Worm.

In second among the competitors, Bob Dean of Wichita Falls, TX, caught three bass weighing 10.90 pounds and pocketed a check for $115.

Bob Dean, of Wichita Falls, Texas, won the big bass contest with a 4.65 pound lunker. His big fish was brought in on a spinnerbait.

Mitch Pierson Wins on Lake Hopatcong

Mitch Pierson won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, New Jersey Division 10 tournament, held April 13, 2014 on Lake Hopatcong.

Running out of Lees Park landing near Mt. Arlington, New Jersey, Mitch Pierson, of Newton, New Jersey, caught five bass weighing 12.50 pounds with 2.87-pound kicker. For the victory Pierson took home a check for $382 and a sponsor provided Columbia fishing shirt. Mitch caught his fish pitching a jig.

In second among the competitors was Lucas Bogosian, of Harrington Park, NJ. Bogosian caught his limit of fish weighing 12.18 pounds. throwing a Rattle Trap in shallow water and pocketed a check for $190 and a sponsor provided Columbia fishing shirt.  Lucas also captured “Big Fish” honors with a 3.40 pound chunk and collected an additional $65.

Pritchard Wins D42 Tournament on AR River/Pine Bluff

The American Fishing Tour, Division 42 of American Bass Anglers held its first qualifying tournament of the 2014 season on the Arkansas River, Pine Bluff Pool, April 12, 2014. Most anglers were able to bring in a few fish with nine anglers finding five fish limits. 20 anglers caught 74 fish weighing 180.13 pounds - a 2.43 pound average.

Chuck Pritchard topped with leader board with a 5 fish limit weighing 16.81 lbs. Chuck threw jigs and soft plastics to sack up his fish and took home $488 for his efforts. Chuck also caught the biggest bass of the tournament, a 5.17 pound fish good for another $100.

Mark Barrett Wins Central Kentucky Tourney on Barkley

Mark Barrett from Central Kentucky District 33 is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win worth $176 in the American Fishing Tour Bass Tournament held on April 12, 2014 going out of Lake Barkley Resort (Little River) on Lake Barkley.  Mark weighed in five fish for 13.90 pounds to beat out three other anglers.  Second Place went to Ronald Timmer with a weight of 13.40 pounds for five fish. Third Place went to Phillip Nickle with a weight of 8.59 pounds for three fish. Big Bass of the Tournament was awarded to Mark Barret`s weight of 4.10 pounds.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their births in division’s two-day championship and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that be held this fall at Old Hickory Lake, Hendersonville, Tennessee. Their points are also used to determine the Divisional Angler of the Year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

Evans Buller Takes The Win on Clarks Hill

14 anglers fished this Clarks Hill one-day tournament. The day started out at 53 degrees and ended with the 3:00 pm weigh-in at 80 degrees. It stayed partly cloudy all day with a wind out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph. Water temp 65s.

Our winner, Evans Buller caught five fish at 17.11 pounds that included a pound 4.58 kicker. Evans was fishing jigs and drop shot.  In second place was Allen Murry with 15.26 pounds. Allen was fishing a C-Rig. Chris Hadden finished in third place with 13.03 he was fish crank baits and top water.

Jay Treon Wins on Clarks Hill at D-96 AFT Qualifier

Jay Treon of Greenwood, SC won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, South Carolina Division 96 qualifier tournament, held April 13, 2013, on Clarks Hill Lake, running out of the Dorn Boating Facility near McCormick, SC.

Best weather day this season. It started out at 55 degrees and ended with the 3pm weigh-in at 81 degrees. It stayed partly cloudy all day with a wind out of the SW at 5 to 15 mph. Water temp averaged in the upper 60s. The main lake was clear but it was a little stained in the rivers and creeks.

Our winner, Jay Treon caught five fish at 13.07 pounds that included a 3.40 pound kicker. Jay was fishing floating worms on the middle part of the lake in SC Little River.  In second place was Steve Christie with 12.77 pounds. Steve was fishing creature baits on the lower part of the lake. Paul Tickerhoof caught the 7.16 pound tournament big fish on a shakey head worm on the lower part of the lake. Other productive lures were topwaters, flukes, Carolina rigs and spinnerbaits.

Steve Raines First Place at Lake Seminole

From Division 114 Seminole April 13, 2014 Steve Raines from Marianna, Fl. is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st Place win and $488.00 in the American Fishing Tour Divisional Bass Tournament held on Lake Seminole this past weekend .Steve’s Five bass weighed in at 19.82 lbs. Second Place went to Len Lindahl with a weight of 19.70 lbs., Third Place was Bobby Smith with a weight of 12.71 lbs. Big Bass went to Steve Raines with an 5.47 lbs. Largemouth.

Amis Takes 1st/Thompson Gets Big Bass

Bill Amis of Shawnee, KS took top honors at last Saturday’s ABA tournament on Stockton Lake with a 5-fish limit that weighed 18.99 lbs. He was leading for Big Bass for a while with a 6.77 lb black, but that lead soon went down when his boater partner weighed in. That partner was Brian Thompson of Springfield, MO who took 2nd place with a weight of 18.05 lb, anchored with Big Bass of the tournament, weighing 6.83 lbs. Amis took $468 for 1st place; Thompson pocketed $477 for 2nd place and Big Bass.
 
Amis and Thompson were paired up at the random draw that took place just before launch. They had seen each other before at different fishing events, but had never officially met. They proved to be the perfect match of boater/non-boater. Thompson asked if there was any place Amis wanted to go. Amis’ reply was “Why would I want you to change your plans? That wouldn’t be smart.”

Keith Knutson Takes First Place on Potomac

From Division 11, Maryland, April 5, 2014 Keith Knutson, from Stafford, Virginia, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship taking First Place in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Potomac River this past weekend.  The five bass limit brought in by Keith weighed in at 16.14 pounds. Keith headed north to hit some docks and when that didn’t pan out moved to a flat which normally has grass but not so after this past winter. Still he knew bass should be present and with a persistent cast of his Chatterbait was able to boat some fish in muddied water. By the afternoon the tide started going out, clearing the water, and then was able to catch some better quality fish.

David Andrews Wins Division 5 Spring 2014 Tournament

From Division 5, New England East, on April 6, 2014 - David Andrews, of Hudson, Massachusetts, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a first place win in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Long Pond in Harwich, Massachusetts. David’s four bass weighed-in at 11.60 pounds. Second place went to George Smith who also weighed in four bass totaling 11.16 pounds. Third place was Cameron Smith with 10.18 pounds. Big bass was awarded to George Smith who weighed in a 4.84 pound small mouth bass.

Billy Throne Wins on Old Hickory Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – Billy won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Tennessee Division 31 tournament, held March 30, 2014 on Old Hickory Lake.

Running out of Bull Creek landing near Gallatin, the Nashville, Tennessee angler caught five bass weighing 21.25 pounds with a 4.95 pound kicker. For the victory, Billy took home a check for $388. Billy caught his fish on a swimbait.

In second among the competitors, Clark Cowley of Nashville, caught five bass weighing 15.30 pounds with a 5.85-pound kicker and pocketed a check for $201. Taking third place, Jason Dies, of Lebanon, Tennessee, caught five bass weighing 11.80 pounds. He pocketed a check for $71. In fourth place, Marl Barrett caught three bass weighing 10.70 pounds, including the biggest bass of the tournament weighing 6.15 pounds.

Brain Gunn wins the Division 94  Savannah River

Brain Gunn, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st place win and earned a total of $ 488.00, in the American Fishing Tournament for the 2014 season held on the Savannah River this past weekend. Gunn weighed in five bass limit, which weighed 14.92 lbs. 2nd place went to Bradwell (Mac) Sampey with a five bass limit weighing 13.50 lbs, 3rd place went to Rain Giss    with five bass weighing in at 13.24 lbs and 4th place went to Curtis Sanders with five bass weighing 11.78 lbs. Big bass honors went to Bradwell (mac) Sampey who caught a 5.54 pound largemouth.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points in an attempt to insure their birth in the ABA National Championship for the 2014 season.

1. Brian Gunn               5 bass weighing         14.92 lbs
2. Bradweel Sampey          5 bass weighing         13.50 lbs
3. Rian Giss                 5 bass weighing         13.24 lbs
4. Curtis Sanders             5 bass weighing         11.78 lbs

At launch time the temperatures were in the mid 60s with clear skies. They day continued with temperatures topping out in the upper 70s.

Water temperatures were in the low to upper 50s.

The bait of the day was plastic, with some spinnerbait action. The anglers reported fishing mainly in the oxbows and main river.

ATHENS, Ala. – Melvin O. Jiggetts won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Virginia Division 3 tournament, held March, 29, 2014, on Northwest River.

Michael Fox Takes the Win on Norman

The tournament was held during a cool and breezy day with intermittent rain on Lake Norman during the Charlotte, North Carolina Division 14 tournament held on March 29, 2014. On the day before were forecasts of possible thunderstorms, strong wind and rain and large hail, but by Saturday morning it had turned for the best.

The tournament was won by Michael Fox with five fish weighing a total of 9.96 pound. In second was James Bumgarner with five fish weighing 9.26 pounds. Big fish honors went to Terry Royston with a 3.49 pounder.

Robin Bowen Wins at Buckhorn Reservoir

Wilson, NC. – Robin Bowen won the North Carolina East Division 15 event held 3/ 29/ 2014 on Buckhorn Reservoir.

Launching at Buckhorn Ramp near Wilson, NC, the Snow Hill, NC angler caught five bass weighing 20.86 pounds with a 6.62 pound kicker. For the victory, Robin took home a check for $224. Robin caught his fish on crank baits and spinner baits.

In second among the competitors, Brooks Bissette, of Wilson, NC, caught five bass weighing 14.56 pounds with a 3.57 pound kicker. Brooks pocketed a check for $84.

Taking third place, Rip Bass, caught two bass weighing 6.70 pounds with a 3.43 pound kicker. Rip pocketed a $15 gift card from Ez Bait and Tackle of Goldsboro, NC.

ATHENS, Ala. – Dave Nickle  won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Central Kentucky Division 33 tournament, held March 29, 2014 on Lake Barkley.

Running out of Kuttawa Public Ramp, the Greenville, Kentucky angler caught five bass weighing 16.89 pounds with a 5.68 pound kicker. For the victory, Dave Nickle took home a check for $196. Dave caught his fish on a Strike King Crankbait.

In second among the competitors, Phillip Nickle of Greenville, Kentucky, caught two bass weighing 3.85 pounds. Phillip caught his fish on Strike King.

Taking third place, Ronald Timmer of Hodgensville, Kentucky, caught one bass weighing 1.85 pounds.

Matt West Wins on Allatoona

Matt West won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Georgia North Division 125 Tournament held March 22, 2014 on Lake Allatoona.

Running out of Gatewood Ramp near Cartersville, Georgia, the Hiram, Georgia angler caught five bass weighing-in at 12.24 pounds including a 4.89 pound kicker. For the victory, Matt took home a check for $463. Matt caught his fish on Livingston Lures, Carolina-rigged lizards, and Grande Bass worms.

In second among the competitors, Eric Nethery of Acworth, Georgia caught five bass weighing 9.89 pounds including a 3.80 pound kicker and pocketed a check for $201.

Taking third place, Michael Dickson of Taylorsville, Georgia caught five bass weighing 7.84 pounds and pocketed a check for $71.

Phillip Anderson wins D-96 AFT Qualifier on Lake Russell

ATHENS, Ala. – Phillip Anderson of Saluda, SC won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, South Carolina Division 96 qualifier tournament, held March 23, 2013, on Lake Russell, running out of the Hwy 72 Ramp near Calhoun Falls Six, SC.

19 anglers fished this Lake Russell 1-day tournament. The day started out at 42 degrees and ended with the 3pm weigh-in at 62 degrees. It stayed cloudy all day with a light wind and a light rain that came through briefly. Water temp averaged in the mid 50’s. The main lake was clear but it was a little stained in the creeks.

Our winner, Phillip Anderson caught 5 fish at 13.20 pounds that included a 4.38 pound kicker. Phillip was fishing spinnerbaits and jigs on the upper part of the lake.  Phillip kicker fish came on the spinnerbait. Phillip won $553 for his finish.
Butch Pitts of Watkinsville, Ga. took 2nd place with 5 fish weighing 12.05 pounds and the big fish pot with a 4.98 pound largemouth. Butch took home $372.

Jack Williams Wins First Place on Clarks Hill Lake

The Division 26 Tournament on Clark’s Hill on Sunday, March 16, 2014 had a couple of special competitors toe-off with the lake’s local talent. Valerio Morini, host of “Troppo Imbranato per Pescare” (which, translated in English, means “Too Clumsy to Fish”) and Luca Quintavalla, a top bass tournament angler, came in from Italy to shoot two 30 minute shows on bass fishing in America....

The East Georgia Division 26, third one day was held on Clark Hill Lake on March 16, 2014 with Jack Williams, of Waynesboro, with a total weight of 22.49 pounds. Jack won the tournament by fish Long Cane Creek. Second place went to Chris Hadden with a total weight of 19.09 pounds. Hadden also took big fish with a 6.64 pounder. Third place was Sammy Landrum with 15.31 pounds. The weather was ruff rained the entire day along with 10 mph winds made a very miserable day.
