Donald Griffith Takes the win on Tensaw

Donald Griffith of Robertsdale, AL is one step closer to American Fishing Tour national championship with a win on the Tensaw River.  Division 41 held its fifth one day qualifier on 1/13/2018 on the Tensaw River.  Blasting off from Cliffs Landing near Bay Minette, AL Donald Griffith brought back a five fish limit that went for 14.11 pounds.  He took home $401 for his effort.

South Carolina Opens On Lake Keowee

ATHENS, Ala. – The South Carolina Division of the 2018 Open Series will hold its Season opener on Lake Keowee 1-27-2018. 

Randy Childers of Anderson, SC won the opening event last year (January 28, 2017) with 17.06 pounds.  Randy took home the guaranteed $5000 for first place in the boater division.  Tony Hudson of Liberty, SC claimed the victory for the co-anlgers with a three-fish limit that weighed 7.16 pounds, he earned $1200 for his victory.

The competitors will launch from South Cove County Park located at 1031 South 
Cove Road Seneca, South Carolina 29678. Anglers will begin fishing at 7:30AM
Or safelight. The weigh-in will begin at 3:30PM.

Joe Toth wins the Division 94 Tournament on the Savannah River 


Joe Toth is one step closer to the American Fishing Tour National Championship with a 1st place win in the Division 94 Tournament held on the Savannah River. Toth weighed in five bass for a total of 10.36 pounds. He anchored his catch and sealed his victory with a 3.47 pound kicker, which also took Big Bass for the tournament. Toth took home $337 for his victory.

Robert Barker wins D72 on Oconee

Robert Barker of Monticello, Ga was the only angler to bring a 5 fish limit to the scale at Lake Oconee on January 13, 2018 for D72.   Robert caught his fish totaling 12.72 pounds on crank baits, and won $539 for 1st place.

Fitzgerald Wins Florida South Season Opener on Lake Okeechobee

ATHENS, Ala. –   Trevor Fitzgerald of Belleview, FL won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Florida South tournament, held January 13th on the Lake Okeechobee.  Running out of Roland Martin Marina & Resort in Clewiston, FL Trevor caught five bass weighing 21.50 pounds including a 7.19-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Fitzgerald took home a check for $5000 for his win and an additional $630 for the Big Bass.

Florida Central Opens at Lake Toho

ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida Central Division of the 2018 Open Series will open the season on January 20, 2018, on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, FL.

Troy Oliver of Lakeland, FL won the opening event last year (January 28,2017) with 23.01 pounds and took home the guaranteed $5000 First-Place Boater prize.  David Rushing of Orlando, FL was the co-angler winner with an impressive 15.00 pound limit.  David’s victory in the co-anger division earned him a check for $2500. Rich Patterson landed the biggest bass of the tournament with a 8.84 pound bass, that earned him $940

Open Series Opener On Lake Okeechobee

ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida South Division of the 2018 Open Series will open the season on January 13, 2018, on Lake Okeechobee in Clewiston, FL.

Mike Jones of Canal Point, Florida won the opening event last year (January 7, 2017) with 23.51 pounds and Michael Gonzalez of Apopka, Florida was the co-angler winner with 13.40, which is strong for a 3-fish co-angler limit. Steve Stinson of Pickering, Ontario took home big bass honors with a 9.02 pound bass cashing in on $940.

The competitors will launch at Roland Martin Marina and Resort, located at 920 E. Del Monte Ave, Clewiston, FL 33440. Anglers may begin fishing at 7:00a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:00p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. local time at Scott Driver Park with the tournament briefing to begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.

Trent Hill Takes the win on Seminole

Trent Hill from Sneads, FL is one step closer to the  American Fishing Tour National Championship with a first place win in the American Fishing Tour Seminole Division 114 bass tournament held on Lake Seminole January 7, 2018. Trent’s limit weighed in at 28.99 pounds.  Big Bass was awarded to Allen "Lee" Mcvay for catching a 8.25 pound largemouth bass.

Athens, Ala. - D72 had a great turnout of 34 anglers at Lake Sinclair on December 16th, 2018.   It was chilly morning at blast off with the temperature sitting around 27 degrees.  34 Anglers blasted off from The Little River Marina near Milledgeville, GA., but it was Mike Blackshear that brought back the winning sack.

Mike Guilbeau wins on Clarks Hill Lake


Thirty anglers fished the D25 AFT tournament at Clarks Hill Lake. The day started out with temps in the low 30’s and increased to the mid 50’s for the 3pm weigh in. Clarks Hill Lake is down around nine feet from full pool with water temps from 47-54 degrees and clear to stained water in the creeks. Fishing was tough to say the least as only 13 of the 30 anglers caught a 5 fish limit. Fish were reported being caught on a variety of baits by all anglers due to how tough the bite was.

 Chavis, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st place win and earned a total of $401.00, in the American Fishing Tournament held on the Savannah River. Chavis weighed in five bass, which weighed 13.95 lbs.

Prowant Wins $10,000 in Area 5 Championship on Lake Okeechobee

ATHENS, Ala. – Brian Prowant of Moore Haven, FL won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Area 5 Championship tournament, held December 16TH & 17TH, 2017 on Lake Okeechobee.  Running out of Scott Driver Park in Okeechobee, FL Prowant caught five bass on day one weighing 18.97 pounds. On day two, Prowant weighed in another five-bass limit that weighed 19.43 pounds and that sealed the deal for his victory by a slim half-pound margin with a total weight of 38.40 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Prowant took home a check for $10,000.

Brian Bean Wins the ABA District 47 tournament on Lake Ouachita

Athens, Ala. - 20 anglers came out on a chilly morning to fish the second tournament of the 2018 ABA American Fishing Tour D47 season 16 Dec 2017 contested on Lake Ouachita.  Lake Ouachita didn’t disappoint for many as plenty of Ouachita chunks came across the scales.  70 fish for a total weight of 166.39 pounds and 10 limits crossed the scales.

The American Couples Series National Championship Returns to Lake Hartwell in 2018


ATHENS, Ala. – The 2018 American Couples Series National Championship, presented by American Bass Anglers, will be hosted by the Anderson Convention & Visitors Bureau and will take place Sept. 16-21, 2018 at Green Pond Landing and Event Center on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, SC. The onsite registration and dinner will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.

D66 Heads to Coffey County State Fishing Lake

Division 66 will hold the 2nd tournament of the 2018 season at Coffey County State Fishing Lake on Sunday 17 Dec 2017. Registration will start at 6:30 a.m. the morning meeting and draw will start at 7:15 a.m. The registration, morning meeting and draw will take place at the entrance gate to the boat launch area as the lake will not open until sunrise approximately 7:30 a.m. We will check-in and launch as soon as the last boat is in the water.  Weigh-in time will be announced at the morning meeting. Entry Fee is $70, optional Big Bass pot is $10. American Bass Anglers membership $35. This will be a Bass Pass tournament. We will weigh-in 5 bass 15 inches or over. Boaters are required to supply a backseat for their non-boaters.

Okeechobee Anglers Get Early Christmas Wish

Athens, AL. Anglers fishing the Ram Truck Open Series Area Championship on Lake Okeechobee next weekend will fish the highest water on Okeechobee in Ten Years.

The 8-10” of rain from Hurricanes this summer brought the lake up to 16.3 feet above sea level and today stands at 15.90 (source http://w3.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/currentLL.shtml ).  The local anglers know this has a big impact on fish movement and the east shore is a hot area with high water.

Florida Central and Florida South Head to Lake Okeechobee for Area 5 Championship 

Athens, Ala. - The Ram Truck Open Series Florida Central Division and Florida South Division Area 5 Championship will be held December 16th -17th on Lake Okeechobee.  The First-Place Boater for this event is guaranteed a minimum of $10,000, and the First-Place Co-Angler is guaranteed a minimum of $5,000.  Also, the top 20 boaters and the top 20 co anglers from this two-day event will qualify for the Ray Scott Championship on the Red River in April 2018.
