Kevin D. Jennings Leads  on the Ouachita River

ATHENS, Ala. – Running out of Forsyth Park in Monroe, LA the field of Ram American Fishing Tour Anglers is finding this fishery challenging due to some low water conditions.  All three days will be needed to figure out these fish. The area has not had any rainfall in over a month and the river is below normal pool making it difficult to reach some of the preferred backwater locations for bass.  Some have said that these conditions have leveled the playing field a bit, forcing most to fish in areas they have not been before.

Kevin D. Jennings of Calhoun, LA finished on top of the field after day one with a 5-fish limit of 12.50 lbs.  Only 5 anglers were able to break the 10-lb. mark at the scales on Wednesday.  In second place just ounces behind the leader is Colby Miller of Elmer, LA with 12.14 lbs, and sitting in 3rd place is William Sheffield of Hawkinsville, GA with 12.07 lbs.

The Angler of the Year (AOY) from each division is having a tournament within the tournament, each competing for the top spot among all AOY participants for the top prize of a new Triton 21 TRX rigged with a Mercury Outboard and rigged with sponsor products.

Leading the AOY category after day one is Bobby Foskey of Biloxi, MS with 10.46 lbs.  In second place is Paul Browning of Morrilton, AR with a weight of 9.46 lbs, and in third place is John Simonof of Jacksonville, AR with 9.22 lbs.  A very tight race…

For the non-boaters, day one put Mike Hignight of Middleburg, FL in the top spot with a 3 fish for 6.40 lbs.  Becky Minor of Parsons, KS is in second place with 6.09 lbs, and in third place is Michael Burch of Broaddus, TX with 5.04 lbs.  Burch only weighed in 2 fish but had a solid 3.35 lb bass to anchor his bag.  The top non-boater at the end of day 3 will be taking home a Triton 19 TRX as well.

One bite on this river and one fish can make a huge difference for these anglers so they are all on edge to make every bite count.  Weigh in will start at 3 PM on Thursday so be sure to check back for updated results Thursday evening.
