Paul Spoon wins D65 Two-Day on Grand Lake

Paul Spoon of Edmond, OK won the Ram American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers Oklahoma Division 65 2-day Championship held September 16th-17th, 2017 on Grand Lake. Blasting off from Tera Miranda near Afton, Ok Paul brought back a five-fish limit on day one that locked in the scales at 10.42 lbs. He anchored his first days catch with the big bass of the tournament, that went for 3.52 lbs.  On day 2 the bite proved to be a little more challenging as he only brought back 2-fish to the scales for a weight of 3.06 lbs.  Paul had a two-day total weight of 13.48 lbs. giving him to Division 65 Championship victory. He took home the Big Bass Trophy and $568 dollars for his efforts.

Second place was taken by Tracy Mitchell of Springfield, MO.  Tracy brought back a five-fish limit on day one that locked in at 9.94 lbs.  Day 2 the bite slowed down for Tracy and he only brought back one fish to the scales, it locked in at 2.30 lbs.  Tracy had a two-day total weight of 12.24 lbs.  Tracy’s second place finish sealed his Victory in the points race for Division 65 Angler of the Year.  He took home $188 for his efforts.  Tracy AOY victory earns him a spot in the RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship to be held in Monroe, LA this October.

Gene Childers of Vinita, OK took third place with a 2-day total weight of 9.66 lbs.

All anglers stated that conditions were tough all over the lake, but rumor has it that it was a square bill crank bait or a shaky head worm to catch the finicky fall bass on Grand Lake.

B.A.S.S. pro angler Ken Iyobe also dropped by to offer his congrats to Tracy Mitchell and the other anglers.

These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.

The Ram American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
