Logan Wins $5000 on Indian Lake
Bob Logan of Waynesfield, OH won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Ohio Division tournament, held June 10TH on the Indian Lake.
Running out of Moundwood State Park in Lakeview, OH, Logan caught five bass weighing 10.46 pounds including a 3.84-poind kicker. For the Boater Division victory, he took home a check for $5000 and an additional $490 for Big Bass.
“I lost a good fish first thing this morning and I worried about it all day, but I caught most of my fish on a skinny dipper and a Yamamoto D-shad. About 1:00pm I got on a frog bite and I culled three times. I had a good day fishing and caught a lot of keepers. It feels good to win $5000 at this event.†Logan said.
In second for the boaters, Hunter Colwell of Zanesfield, OH landed a five-bass tournament limit going 10.36 pounds. He collected $800 for his catch.
“I caught my fish flipping matted grass and lily pads.†Colwell said.
Darrell Gallagher of Maplewood, OH placed third for the boaters with five bass going 9.31 pounds. He earned $600 for his catch.
“I caught my fish flipping a jig in the lily pads.†Gallagher said.
In fourth place among the boaters, Rodney Spencer of Waynesfield, OH brought in five bass for 9.03 pounds.
Cody Seeger of Lewistown, OH finished in fifth place with five bass at 8.70 pounds.
In the Co-Angler Division, Dennis Cruse of Columbus, OH won with three bass going 7.21 pounds with a 3.79-pound kicker. He pocketed a check for $850 for his win and $105 for the big bass.
“I was fishing the game preserve area of the lake and I caught my fish today on a Senko and a jig. I caught two fish this morning and one fish just before check-in this afternoon.†Cruse said.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Chad Buzard of Delphos, OH brought in a three-bass division limit weighing 5.92 pounds. He collected $250 for the effort.
“I missed two fish late in the day that would have helped me. I caught two fish flipping pads and one on a crank-bait.†Buzard said.
William Gross of Olmstead Falls, OH placed third among the co-anglers with three bass going 5.30 pounds. He earned $200 for his catch.
“I caught all my fish today swimming a jig on main lake rocks. I had a fun day fishing today.†Gross said.
In fourth place among the co-anglers, Tim Cukovecki of Dayton, OH brought in three bass for 4.27 pounds. Larry Riley of Newark, OH finished in fifth place with two bass at 4.11 pounds.
Slated for July 8th, the next tournament will be held at Tanners Creek out of Lawrenceburg City Ramp in Lawrenceburg, IN. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2018 Ray Scott Championship to be held on the Red River near Shreveport, Louisiana.
