Don Beckley of Paducah, KY won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Kentucky tournament, held April 1, 2017 at Lake Kentucky Lake. Running out of Moors Resort in Gilbertsville, KY, Beckley caught five bass weighing 19.04 pounds with a 6.04-pound kicker. He took home $5,000 for his efforts.

“It was a painstakingly slow day of fishing. I caught my biggest fish on the third cast of the day.  I was fishing in 15-18 feet of water fishing with finesse jigs and Zoom trick worms,” Beckley said.

In second for the boaters, Billy Levan of Clarksville, TN. He landed a five-bass tournament limit going 18.26 pounds. He collected $600 for the effort.

“It was a slow day for me. I didn’t catch many fish until that afternoon. I was using buzz baits and was fishing in about a foot of water. I was able to cull up a few times throughout the afternoon,” said Levan.

Michael Riggs of Panama, IL took third for the boaters with five bass going 17.17 pounds with a 6.27 pound kicker taking home $475.

“It was a great day. I caught fish all day long. I was using a white swim jig all day throwing it in about a foot of water,” Riggs said.

Mickey Beck of Lebanon, TN took fourth place with a weight of 16.74 pounds.

David Carroll of Manitou, KY took fifth with a five bass limit going 16.30 pounds. He also had the biggest bass of the tournament that weight 6.41 pounds. He collected $370 from the big bass pot as well as a new ABU Garcia Revo Spinning Reel valued at $160 for catching his bass using and ABU Garcia reel.

“I caught all his fish on a homemade swim jig, it is a replica of the Bass Pro XPS swim bait. We were fishing shallow all day and caught fish all day allowing me to cull several times,” stated Seasor.

Taking second for the co-anglers, Mike Blumer of Louisville, KY brought in a three-bass division limit weighing 8.54 pounds. He collected $400 for the effort.

“I caught my fish early in the day. I was using brush hogs and beavers flipping and pitching docks,” said Blumer.

“I caught most of my fish on one bank in about two foot of water or less with a vibrating jig,” said Rampaul.
