John & Angela Win on Lake High Rock
John and Angela Mayo won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, North Carolina Division 4 Tournament, held May, 5, 2013, on Lake High Rock.
Running out of Dutch Second landing near Sailbury, NC, the team from Maiden, NC, caught five bass weighing 12.45 pounds with a 4.18 pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $315.
In second, Paul Huskins and Shelby English, of Marion, NC, caught three bass weighing 7.37 pounds with a 4.05 pound kicker. They earned a check for $210.
Taking third place, the team of Dale and Wendy Meder, of Cary, NC, caught two bass weighing 5.91 pounds with a 3.49-pound kicker.
In fourth place, Rick and Tammy Jones of Taylorsville, NC, caught two bass weighing 5.03pounds.
Angela Mayo won the Lady’s Big Fish contest with a 4.18 pound lunker. Paul Huskins won the Men’s Big Fish title with a 4.05 pound lunker.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Although many married couples compete together as teams, some teams consist of boyfriend and girlfriend combinations, parent-child combinations or just two friends. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
