Brenna Armfield and Carl Guffey are Victorious on Douglas

By Kathy Smith

April 19, 2014 – Douglas Lake - On Easter weekend Division 9 couples gathered together for another exciting round of Catch the Fish. Five teams launched amidst the crowds of other tournaments leaving from the same boat ramp.

Despite the overcast skies, Brenna Armfield and Carl Guffey brought in 9.78 pounds, which won them first place. Brenna, who was using a Carolina Rig for only the second time, topped off their bag with a nice big 3.25 pound largemouth. They earned a plaque and $375.

Coming in second was the new team of Kathy Smith and Danny Presley. They had a good day and arrived at the boat ramp with 9.46 pounds. They received a nice plaque.

Kathy Smith was quite excited to win Lady’s Big Fish with a 4.11 pound bass. She received $25.00 and a plaque.

Rusty Satterfield beat out the other guys with his 2.78 pound bass for Men’s Big Fish. He, too, received $25.00 and a plaque.

The remaining results:
3. Misty Lewis and Rusty Satterfield    9.45 Lbs.
4. Korrina McKenney and Matt Sharp   7.91 Lbs.
5. Mary Ann and Bob Guiliano             6.58 Lbs.

All of the teams had five live fish. Water temperature was about 60°. The air temperature eventually rose to 65°. Fish were caught from a shallow, two feet to a deeper, 15 feet.

Our next tournament will be at Melton Hill on May 17, 2014. We look forward to seeing everyone and hope that new couples will join us. More information and photos are on our website at www.abacouples-netn.com.
