Jimmy & Samantha Langley Win on Lake Oconee

ATHENS, Ala. - Jimmy and Samantha won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Georgia Division 2 tournament, held April 13, 2014 on Lake Oconee

Running out of Sugar Creek Marina near Buckhead, the team from Monroe, Georgia, caught five bass weighing 16.69 pounds with a 4.33-pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $600. The Langley’s caught their fish on crankbaits.

In second for the 16 teams, Jeff and Amanda Maddox of McDonough, Georgia, caught five bass weighing 16.46 pounds with a 5.36-pound kicker. They pocketed a check for $360.

Taking third place, the team of Barry Stokes and April Ellis of Covington, Georgia, caught five bass weighing 16.10 pounds with a 4.73-pound kicker. They pocketed a check for $240.

In fourth place, Dave Andrews and Patti Burns of Warner Robins, Georgia, caught five bass weighing 16.05 pounds with a 4.05-pound kicker.

Jason Gunn and Amy Eller of Rutledge, Georgia, rounded out the top five teams with five bass weighing 15.79 pounds.

Barry Stokes of Covington, Georgia, won the Mens Big Fish contest with a 4.73-pound lunker.

Amy Eller of Covington, Georgia, won the Ladies Big Fish title and big bass of the tournament with a 6.98-pound lunker.

All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Although many married couples compete together as teams, some teams consist of boyfriend and girlfriend combinations, parent-child combinations or just two friends. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with parental written permission.

The next divisional tournament will be back-to-back one day tournaments held May 24 & 25, 2014 on Lake Eufaula near Eufaula, Alabama, going out of Lakepoint Resort.
