Jeremy Pruitt and Wanda Hefner Take The Win on Wylie
The North Carolina Division 4 tournament on Lake Wylie turned out to be a good tournament for some and a bust for others. The weather started out in the lower 60’s with a light breeze. This however did not last long. The wind picked up and the drizzle set in to make it feel about 30 degrees for most of the morning and part of the afternoon. At 7:00 am the water temperature hovered around 59 to 60 degrees, and by afternoon it had dropped to 56.
We had 12 teams show up to brave the weather. New couples to our division were the teams of Chris Coon & Jennifer Nicol and Wes Lewis & Kelli Tremblay, and we would like to welcome to the ABA NC Couples Family.
Jerry Pruitt and Wanda Hefner took the honors of first place with a full bag weighing 13.99 pounds and $540. Terry and Sue Wien took second place 11.11 pounds and $360. Jerry had a 5.20 pound kicker while Terry had a 4.91 pound kicker. Men’s big fish went to Jerry with his lunker and ladies big fish went to Tammy Jones with a 2.31 pound largemouth. We had 27 fish weighed in and all 27 got released.
Leisa and Keith Morgan struggled to catch fish through most of the morning but finally found something they wanted. We ended up catching four largemouth, the largest of which was only 13 1/2 inches long, so we were unable to weigh anything in. However, we had a wonderful time on the boat with each other and then had just as good of a time socializing with the group during weigh in and door prize drawings. Seven of the couples were able to go eat with us afterwards at the Texas Roadhouse where we really got to know one another better and become a closer fishing family.
What a great day this tournament was, and I could not think of a better way to end the 2013 year. If you or someone you know likes to fish give us a call we would love to have you as a part of the ABA Couples Fishing Family!
