Matt and Karen Priode Win on Kerr Lake

Launching out of Flemingtown, the team from Wake Forest, NC caught 5 bass weighing 12.27 pounds using soft plastic baits. For the victory, they earned $360. Matt also landed Men's Big Fish for a weight of 3.13 pounds.

In second was the team of Tim and Pam Staton from Appomattox, VA who caught 5 bass weighing 8.74 pounds. For the victory, they earned $240.

Ladies Big Fish was caught by Liesel Ganes with a weight of 2.65 pounds.

Jerry and Wanda Win on Lake Hickory

ATHENS, AL – Jerry Pruitt and Wanda Hefner won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, NC Division 4 Tournament, held June 15, 2013, on Lake Hickory.

Running out of Whittenburg landing near Hickory, the team from Vale, NC, caught 5 bass weighing 19.69 pounds with a 5.51-pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $630.

A Clark Hill Win for Susan and John Mills

Susan and John Mills won the South Carolina Couples season finale on Clarks Hill on June 8. Their 11.3 pound sack was anchored by Susan’s 3.20 pound tournament big bass. The Mills’ home is Leesville, South Carolina. They caught their fish with plastic worms on main lake “humps”.

Second place was captured by Sara and Don Ledford of Lawndale, North Carolina, with 9.00 pounds. Their successful pattern was totally different from the Mills. Sara and Don headed up a creek arm “as far back as you can go.” Their fish were caught in the grass on Flukes and “Mag” worms. Jack Veal won the men’s big bass competition with a healthy 2.80 pounder.

Jim Strawbridge and Sharon Below Win on Boyd Lake

ATHENS, AL – Jim Strawbridge and Sharon Below won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Colorado Division 13 tournament, held June 2, 2013, on Boyd Lake.

Running out of Boyd Lake Marina near Loveland, the team from Frederick, Colorado, caught 3 bass weighing 6.87 pounds with a 3.03-pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $375. Jim and Sharon caught their fish on square billed crankbaits & senkos. Although this lake has mainly largemouth bass, Jim & Sharon seemed to find smallmouths to earn the win.

Jack and Lavonda Napier Win on Wilson

ATHENS, AL – Jack and Lavonda Napier won the seventh AL North, Division 7 ACS tournament, held May 25, 2013 on Wilson Lake. Running out of Safety Harbor, Elgin, AL, the team caught five bass weighing 18.80 pounds. The victory earned them a check for $540. Jack’s 4.94 pound bass won the Men’s big fish of the tournament. Elaine and Ron Holler won second place. They caught five bass weighing 14.9 pounds, and pocketed a check for $360.

Donna and Kevin Fulmer Master Lake Murray

Donna and Kevin Fulmer, from Prosperity, SC, claimed the South Carolina Couples victory on Lake Murray on May 18. Their awesome 21.70 pound five fish sack was caught mostly on pearl Flukes and swimbaits. They also had Lady’s and Men’s big fish honors. Donna’s fish weighed 6.10 pounds and Kevin’s was 4.90 pounds.

This was Donna Fulmer’s first bass competition. She expressed an interest in learning to fish about 6 months ago. Kevin started teaching her at that time. Donna’s big bass battle was a thrill for both of them. Donna worked to keep pressure on the fish while Kevin watched the bass dance and twirl, tossing the Fluke’s hook around in its mouth. The fish made it into the net and immediately into the livewell. It seems that not only the fish was well hooked, but now Donna is hooked on bass fishing!

Victorious at Melton Hill Lake

The spring rain had stopped as the couples arrived at the boat ramp. Even though it was still overcast, the air had a welcoming warmth to it. Eleven couples launched that morning carefully guiding their boats through the light fog and around the floating debris.

Everyone arrived back to the ramp in good spirits because all had caught at least one fish. Many of the fish were caught using jigs, worms, lizards and brush hogs. Water temperature was about 62° and the air temperature rose to 72°F.

The first place winners were our wonderful division directors, Juanita Blasingame and Danny Presley. Their bag of fish weighed 12.17 pounds and won them $495. One of Danny's fish, weighing 4.79 pounds, earned him the Men's Big Fish award and $55. He's a fish charmer when he's using a jig!

Carolyn and Rick Leigeber Win On Wheeler

ATHENS, AL – Carolyn and Rick Leigeber won the sixth ABA Couples Series, AL North, Division 7 tournament held May 11, 2013 on Wheeler Lake. Running out of Ingalls Ramp, Decatur AL; the team caught 5 bass weighing 19.48 pounds. The victory earned them a check for $630. Rick’s 5.95 pound Lunker was Men’s Big Fish of the tournament. The team of Tracy and Larry Cameron won second place. They caught 5 bass weighing 18.96 pounds, and pocketed a check for $420.

Angela Braun’s 5.84 pound lunker was the Women’s Big Fish of the tournament.

Kristie Hall Win on Lake Gaston

Day one of a two day tournament on Lake Gaston had the couple from Manson, North Carolina weighing in five bass for a total of 13.53 pounds. They earned $ 270.00 using jigs. Cameron also landed Men's Big Fish for a weight of 4.25 pounds.

Jeffery and Stephanie Archie Win on Kentucky Lake

ATHENS, AL – Jeffery and Stephanie Archie won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Kentucky Division 8 tournament, held May 5, 2013, on Kentucky Lake. Running out of Paris Landing near Paris, Tennessee the team from Paris, Tennessee caught five bass weighing 21.59 pounds with a 5.16 pound kicker that resulted in big fish of the tournament. For the victory, they earned a check for $450.

In second for the teams, David and Sharon Seaton of Buchanan, Tennessee caught five bass weighing 17.21 pounds. They pocketed a check for $300.

Taking third place, the team of Donnie and Lila Williams of Paris, Tennessee caught five bass weighing 17.17 pounds.
