Bell Wins Division in Louisiana
ATHENS, AL – David “Corey” Bell wins the Division Championship for the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Louisiana Division 13, held Sept 29-30, 2012, on Red River.
Running out of Grand Encore Landing near Natchitoches, David “Corey” Bell of Broussard, LA, captured his second victory this season; his first win was the season opener at Atchafalaya. He had two good days of fishing for a total weight of 23.41 pounds. On day one he was in second place with 13.18 pounds and came back on day two for the win with 10.23 pounds.
In second, Matthew Armand of Hessmer, LA, had a ten-bass tournament limit for 21.63 pounds while anchoring his bag with a 4.50 pound kicker. This is his second consecutive top-three finish at Red River and finishes thirteenth in the divisional points standing.
In third of the boaters and his second top finish with a win at Louisiana Delta in June, Ross Watkins of Carriere, MS, brought ten bass to the scales for 19.70 pounds. He weighed 8.98 pounds on the first day and added 10.72 on the second day.
Rounding out the top four and winner from July, David Curtis of Trinity, TX, with ten bass for 18.89 pounds. He had 11.51 pounds on day one and 7.38 pounds on day two. In seventh of the boaters, Ricky Mabile of Pierre Part, LA, is the big fish winner with his 4.96 pound lunker.
In the Co-Angler Division, Steve Meche of Pineville, LA, wins for the second consecutive time at Red River with 18.89 pounds for ten bass and finishes the season in twelfth place in the points. He caught 7.18 pounds on day one and 5.33 pounds on day two.
In second, Jonathan Monk of Pride, LA, finishes with six bass for 12.20 pounds including his 4.46 pounder that earns the big fish title and finishes the season in fifth place in the points.
Slightly behind in third, Joel Mayer of Gonzales, LA, finishes only .19 pounds under with 12.01 pounds for his two-day efforts. He had 4.75 pounds on day one and 7.26 pounds on day two for an eighth place finish in the points.
Rounding out the top four, Brad McFeari of Baton Rouge, LA, caught a six bass limit for 11.81 pounds with 5.54 on Saturday and finished with 6.27 pounds on Sunday.
