Millender Wins Big In Texas Championship
ATHENS, AL – Randy Millender wins big at the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Southeast Texas Division 10 Championship, held Sept 22-23, 2012, on Lake Sam Rayburn.
Running out of Umphrey Pavilion Landing near Jasper, Randy Millender of Teague, TX, wraps up the championship with a big win. He had over a five pound lead at the end of day one and never looked back. On day one he weighed in with 22.81 pounds and finished day two with 16.37 pounds for an average weight of 4.35 pounds for his nine bass and pockets a check for $5,005. He claimed the big fish title for his 8.61 pound lunker and finishes second in points in the Southeast Texas Division 10.
In second, Ronald Risenhoover of Lufkin, TX, had 12.29 pounds on the first day, well enough for eighth place and he came back on the second day with 14.51 pounds that would move him up six places with a total weight of 27.80 pounds which included a 6.03 pound kicker and earned him a $2,353 payday. He finishes the points chase in sixth place.
In third place of 83 boaters, Michael Dorcz of Humble, TX, weighed ten bass for 26.50 pounds including the second largest of the big fish at 7.46 pounds. He had a fifteenth place finish on the first day with 10.59 pounds but after a good day of fishing on the second day, he added 15.91 pounds and puts $1,867 in his pocket.
Rounding out the top four, Stephen Johnston of Hemphill, Texas, is the boater points champion in the S.E. Texas division. He finishes the two days with ten bass for 25.88 pounds. On day one, he slightly cleared the ten pound mark with 10.08 pounds however he added 15.80 pounds on day two for a check worth $1,098. Johnson had four top-ten finishes of the five tournaments he fished in this S.E. Texas division.
In the Co-Angler Division, Michael Burch of Broaddus, TX, takes the win with five bass for 15.80 pounds and claims the big fish title for his 6.97 pound lunker. 11.60 pounds on day one gave him a lead well enough to compensate for the 4.20 pounds caught on Day two and he earns a payday of $2,493.
In second, Chris Nequent of Buna, TX, caught the six bass limit for 14.08 pounds and brings home a check for $1,173. He had two good days of fishing with 7.47 pounds on day one and 6.61 pounds on day two and he finishes in fifth place in the points.
In third of the co-anglers, Travis White of Hurst, TX, had a close finish behind second with a .03 pound difference for 14.05 pounds. He had two consistent days with 7.79 pounds on day one and 6.26 pounds on day two and received a check for $782.
Finishing in forth, Sammy Strong of Orange, TX, is the co-angler points champion for the S.E. Texas division with three top-ten finishes for the season. He caught six bass for 13.14 pounds and anchored his bag with the second largest big fish at 5.17 pounds and earns a check for $548. Day one proved to be a good day with 8.46 pounds and he finished day two with 4.68 pounds.
