Beck Wins Tennessee Central Division Championship
ATHENS, AL – Mickey Beck takes the win for the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Tennessee Central Division 3 championship tournament, held Sept 8-9, 2012, on Old Hickory.
Running out of Flipper’s Bull Creek Access near Gallatin, Beck of Lebanon, TN, had a two-day total weight of 25.86 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 4.18 pound kicker. He was second on Day 1 with 12.99 pounds but Day 2 was a repeat with 12.87 pounds for the win, Triton Bonus money, and a check for $2,439.
“On Saturday I sat down on some brush piles throwing a Hoppy’s 3/8 oz. jig and caught a couple of fish that way. I realized the water was still rising so I started running to the backs of the pockets as far as I could go. If my trolling motor wasn’t digging up mud I wasn’t catching fish. I started throwing the Hoppy’s ¼ oz. buzzbait before that front came in on Saturday and they were sure annihilating it.”
In second, Sam Lashlee of Dickson, TN, had the lead on Day 1 with 13.77 pounds and Day 2 was almost as good with 11.28 pounds making his ten fish two-day total 25.05 pounds and earned him $1,221.
Anthony Nash of Quebeck, TN, finishing third of 32 boaters, he had two consecutive days with 11.59 pounds on Day 1 and 11.34 pounds on Day 2 for a total weight of 22.93 and $813 in his pocket.
Bill Bell of Smithville, TN, may have finished in sixteenth place but he anchored his bag with a 5.44-pounder that collected the big fish title.
In the Co-Angler Division, John Howell of Murfreesboro, TN, caught four fish overall for a consistent two-day total of 5.27 and 5.72 pounds totaling 10.99 pounds and the divisional win.
In a close second, Jeff Wheeley of Lafayette, TN, had a five fish total for 10.95 pounds. Day 1 wasn’t so good with only 2.82 pounds but Day 2 was immensely different with 8.13 pounds.
In third, Matt Allen of Bloomington Springs, TN, brought in four fish for 10.15 pounds and anchored his bag with the 4.58 big fish for the trophy.
