By Lisa Talmadge

Clinton, MO...July 11, 2009...Justin Miller of Grain Valley, MO is one step closer to the Bassmaster Classic with his first place victory in the Missouri division earning $5,000 plus $1750 from Triton/Mercury/MotorGuide in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series bass tournament held on Truman Lake.  Miller`s five bass limit weighed in at 16.31 pounds.  Justin practiced two days prior to the tournament.  His winning spot consisted of standing timber in the back of a creek in 4 ft to 8 ft of water.  To get there he had to idle forty five minutes one way and forty five minutes back which left him approximately only six hours of fishing time.  While he was there Miller made the most of his time throwing Dave`s Custom Baits Black Market Balsa`s #3 to catch his winning weight.

Boaters brought 112 fish to the scales with a total weight of 281.48 pounds: second – Doug Schilling of Clinton, MO with 15.17; third – Nalon Jones of Marshfield, MO with 14.80; fourth – Jacob Dillon of Papillion, NE with 14.22; and fifth – David Ryan of Levasy, MO with 13.02.  Boater big bass award went to Jacob Dillon for catching a 6.36 pound largemouth.

The co-anlers brought 51 fish to the scales with a total weight of 121.07 pounds.  Mike Winthorst of Jefferson City, MO took first on the co-angler side with a total weight of 8.01 pounds.  His bag also included the co-angler big bass of the tournament.  Remaining top five co-anglers were: second – Jeremy Rushton of Lees Summit, MO with 7.86; third – Derek Brown of Osage Beach, MO with 7.81; fourth – Brad Christy of Jefferson City, MO with 7.59; and fifth Benjamin Stanford of Crane, MO with 6.67.
