Angler Spotlight: Dave Davenport
By: Evan Boutwell
Dave Davenport of Milford, OH has won yet another Weekend Bass Series event this past weekend. He won the Ohio division event at Rocky Fork Lake with a limit weighing 10.87 pounds and the 5.70 pound Big Bass of the event.
Davenport already had quite an impressive history in the Weekend Bass Series. Since 2009, Davenport has been co-angler AOY of the Ohio division twice in 2011 and 2012. He began fishing as a boater in 2013 and won two events in the Ohio division, only missing AOY in his rookie season as a boater by one spot. Now, Davenport has already won the first Ohio division event of 2014 at Rocky Fork Lake.
Livingston Lures added Davenport to their pro staff in December of 2013 and he is already using Livingston baits to win events. He credits the majority of his win this past Saturday to the use of two Livingston baits. Davenport said he used a Money Clown colored Stickmaster and a Citrus Shad colored Dive Master Jr. to help secure his win.
Even his boat being in the shop didn’t stop him from getting ready for this past Ohio event. Davenport actually went to the lake and fished from the bank for a while to get an idea of what was going on with the bass at Rocky Fork prior to the event. With his boat still not ready, he borrowed a friend’s boat for the day to win the event. Most anglers would have dropped out of the event due to not having their own boat ready to go, but it didn’t stop Davenport from adding another trophy to his mantle.
