Davenport Wins Ohio Division Opener

Livingston Lures pro staffer Dave Davenport of Milford, OH won the first Ohio division event of the Weekend Bass Series at Rocky Fork Lake on April 12, 2014.  Davenport took the win with 10.87 pounds and a 5.70 pound bass for Big Bass of the event.  This was Davenport’s first event as a boater in the Ohio division.  Davenport said that he “ran all over the lake” and that he caught around 20 keepers throughout the day.  Davenports’ catch came on a Livingston jerkbait and crankbait early and then an A-rig after the wind picked up.    Ryan Stumpf of Johnstown, OH rounded out the top three with 10.59 pounds.

The co-angler champion of the event was David Prater of Franklin, OH with 10.09 pounds and the 5.81 pound Big Bass.  Prater said he did not have a bite until 1:00 p.m. and he caught his fish on windy banks swimming a jig with a Netbait Paca Craw.  Prater, also, said he broke of his third keeper that would have given himself an even bigger win.  Dan Minor of Norwalk, OH finished in the second place spot with 8.88 pounds.  Third place went to Ian Mangino of New Albany, OH with 7.74 pounds.

The next Ohio division event of the Weekend Bass Series will take place on May 10, 2014 at Indian Lake launching from Moundwood. For more information on the Ohio division of the Weekend Bass Series contact tournament manager Gary Conner at (256) 230-5627.
