Powers Wins in Spite of Fog Delay

The Tennessee East division Weekend Bass Series event at Lake Chickamauga on April 12, 2014 got a late start due to a three hour fog delay.  Craig Powers of Harriman, TN won the event with 16.08 pounds in spite of his late start.  He stated that tournament manager Billy Benedetti made the right decision on holding back blast off due to the extreme fog conditions.  Craig said he only caught five keepers during his day while throwing an A-rig.  Bill “Billy Joe” Wheat of Evansville, TN finished second with 9.52 pounds and Anthony Revis of Dayton, TN finished third with 8.45 pounds.  Steve Barnes of Harrison, TN won Big Bass with a 7.02 pound largemouth.

First place and Big Bass on the co-angler side went to Mark Pirkle of Cleveland, TN.  Mark only weighed in one bass weighing 7.07 pounds, but that bass was worth both prizes for the day.  Mark said he caught his winning bass on his third cast and only had one more bite all day.  Jared Sullivan of Hixon, TN finished second with one 4.66 pound bass and James Burchard of Spring City, TN finished third with only one bass weighing 4.03 pounds.

The next Tennessee East division event is at the Watts Bar Lake out of Tom Fuller Park in Rockwood, TN.  For more information on the Tennessee East division of the Weekend Bass Series contact tournament director Billy Benedetti at (256) 230-5632.
