Sean Anderson Wins a Tough One on Lake Greenwood
Sean Anderson of Leesville, SC won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, South Carolina Division 96 one-day qualifier tournament held August 24, 2014, on Lake Greenwood and running out of Greenwood State Park near Ninety Six, SC.
27 anglers fished this Lake Greenwood one-day qualifying tournament. It started out at 73 degrees and ended with the 3pm weigh-in at 89 degrees. It stayed cloudy almost all day with a brisk wind out of the NE at 15 to 20 mph. Water temperature was in the high 80's. The main lake was clear but it was a little stained in the rivers and creeks.
Our winner, Sean Anderson of Leesville, SC had five fish at 12.44 pounds that included the 4.83 pound kicker. Sean caught his fish on a buzzbaits and spinnerbaits around points in the middle part of the lake. Sean's payoff for the day was $718.
Gene Parker of Asheville, NC was second place with four fish at 12.12 pounds. Gene caught one fish on a buzzbait and the rest on his ParkerBaits Spinnerbait on the upper part of the lake. Gene took home a total of $582.
In third place was Joey Miller of Waterloo, SC with four fish at 11.41 pounds who took home $129 and a local sponsor ALX Rods hat.
Fourth place was Don Kneece of Saluda, SC with five fish at 11.31 pounds who went home with $104.
This turned out to be a tough day to catch fish on Greenwood. Only 14 anglers weighed in fish with the other 13 anglers zeroing. Only three five fish limits were brought in. We just had two days where the high was 100 degrees on Friday and Saturday. The cooler day with cloud cover and wind seemed to suspend the fish today.
