Barnes Comes From Behind For Win at Chickamauga

Athens, Al - Steve Barnes of Harrison, TN weighed in 5 fish that weighed 28.35 pounds including a 10.24 pound kicker to win the Weekend Bass Series TN East event 2014-08-23 on Chickamauga.

On day one, boater Steve Barnes of Harrison, TN, was sitting in sixth place with only one fish that weighed 6.27 lbs, nearly 11 pounds behind the leader, Greg Shaver of Dayton, TN. "Both days I ran the same pattern. I fished scattered grass early and once the sun got up, I'd go deep. I was throwing a Chatterbait in the grass and a spook.  Yesterday I had the bites, I had the big fish on, but they just wouldn't eat the baits. I should have had the same weight yesterday as today. Today it stayed cloudy longer and I caught fish on a spook, then when the sun came out, I caught the 10lb bass around 10:30 am," said Barnes.

Barnes came in on day two with four fish that weighed 22.08 lbs, including the 10.24 lb  Big Bass.

Steve Barnes also took the AOY title for the 2014 season of the Tennessee Central division. Barnes accumilated 1486 points for the title.

Rounding out the top 10 boaters were:
