Tidwell Dominates at Guntersville Divisional Championship

Athens, Al - Tony Tidwell weighed in 10 fish that weighed 40.42 pounds to win the Weekend Bass Series Alabama North event 2014-08-16 on Guntersville.

Royal Purple pro Tony Tidwell of Horton, AL lead both days of the Alabama North two-day event at Lake Guntersville. Tidwell lead day one of the event with five bass weighing 21.74 pounds and he brought 18.68 pounds to the scales on day two to secure the win with a two day total of 40.42 pounds.  "I caught all of my fish on both days using a black/blue 3/8 Tightlines jig targeting outside edges of grasslines in 6 - 10 fet of water.  I fished areas from Browns Creek to north of Mill Creek to catch the 10 fish that I weighed in.  With the fishing being so tough for me yesterday, I had nightmares of Marshall Deakins coming in with 25 pounds today and knocking me out of the lead," laughed Tidwell.

"On days like today, I'm proud to be part of the Royal Purple team.  I neede every ounce of  horsepower from my Mercury outboard and I can push it to the limit without worry of failure using Royal Purple," said Tidwell.

Josh Butler of Hayden, AL finished second with a two day total of 38.85 pounds.  Josh caught his two limits using a black/blue jig and a swimbait.

Third  place went to Marshall Deakins of Dunlap, TN with a two day total of 36.19 pounds.  Marshall also caught his fish using a black/blue jig.

Gary Howington won the AOY title for the 2014 season in the Alabama North division.  Gary accumilated 1453 points over five events.  Some of his points lead was due to his win at the season opener on Guntersville earlier this year.
