Tom Dupuis Wins Division 6 Two Day and AOY
Tom Dupuis from Terryville Connecticut won the American Fishing Tour presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 Final two-day tournament, held August 9 - 10, 2014, on Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah. The first day tournament was launched out of the Squantz ramp landing near the town of New Fairfield Connecticut, with the second day out of the new State ramp near Bridgewater Connecticut.
Tom caught a five bass limit each day weighing a total of 16.96 pounds. He also caught the big bass of the tournament with a 3.56 largemouth on the second day. For the victory, Tom took home a check for $392 for both awards. Tom caught the majority of his fish using topwater lures during the first couple of hours each morning casting over milfoil mats and shoreline cover. With this win Tom also earned the title of Division 6 Angler of the Year and is looking forward to fishing Old Hickory Lake and competing with the all the other ABA Anglers of the Year.
In second among the competitors, Gary McClarran weighed in 11.03 pounds with a 3.24-pound kicker. He caught his fish mainly on plastics near the shoreline and in the weed cover where available.
Taking third place, Tom Sweeney of Glastonbury, Connecticut, caught his bass totaling 9.79 pounds and Don Philpot finished fourth with 2.83 pounds of largemouth.
Division 5 will kick-off it's 2015 season with it's next tournament on April 25, 2015.

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship for this fall on Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN.
