East Texas Wraps Up Season at Lake of the Pines
East Texas anglers of the ABA Weekend Bass Series will make their final stop of the year at Lake of the Pines on July 12th & 13th, 2014. This will be a two day event. The event launch and weigh in will take place at Johnson Creek in Jefferson, TX. Registration for the event will, also, take place at Johnson Creek on Friday, July 11th from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Last year’s event at Lake of the Pines was won by Keith M. Jones of Texarkana, TX. Jones brought a brought a two day total of 33.37 pounds to the scales that he caught fishing hydrilla with a Chatterbait in the mornings and fishing pads with a green pumpkin frog during the day. Michael W. Nance of won the co-angler side of that event with a two day total of 13.79 pounds. Nance caught his fish with buzzbaits and Ribbit frogs. Entry fees for ABA Weekend Bass Series two-day events are $300 for boaters and $150 for co-anglers. Weekend Bass Series events are open to all ABA members. Memberships may be purchased onsite at tournament registration, by calling ABA at (256) 232-0406, or by going to www.americanbassanglers.com. ABA membership dues are $25 per year and include a new member gift packet along with a subscription to American Bass Anglers magazine.
Anglers that finish the season in the top 40 points rankings will have the opportunity to advance to the WBS Regional Championship to compete for two new Triton Boats on the Red River in Alexandria, LA on October 10 & 11, 2014. Anglers can advance from the WBS Regional Championship to the Ray Scott Championship on Lake Wheeler in Decatur, AL November 12 – 15, 2014 to compete for a $100,000 first place boater prize and a $50,000 first place co-angler prize.
Anglers can also cash in on contingency programs such as Triton Gold, Atlas Awards, Royal Purple Awards, and Mercury/Motorguide bonus money.
