Brad Brodnicki out weighs the competition on the Return to Chautauqua Lake

Athens, Al - Brad Brodnicki of Amherst NY weighed in 5 Fish with a weight of 20.92 pounds to win the Weekend Bass Series New York event 2014-06-28 on Chautauqua.

The day started slow (Brodnicki said). I started the day throwing top water, I worked with that for about half an hour to no avail. I knew then that it was going to be a dock pattern. I was fishing docks in anywhere from 1 foot to 5 foot deep. One of the keys was to get the bait into the shady side of the docks. I started with a senko and was catching some small fish, but switched to a black and blue jig with a chigger craw trailer, and started catching the bigger fish.

In Second Place was Kevin Clarke. (Kevin said), I started fishing in 1 to 4 foot of water and had my limit early using a green pumpkin senko but only had about 7 pound. I knew I had to make a change. I moved to a weed line I knew about on the edge of a break in about 10 foot of water. As the wind came up, I had to switch to a heavier weight to get the bait down. I was able to cull out all my smaller fish and get to the 16.84 pounds. I caught the big bass 5.23 off that weed line.

In Third Mr. David Barnes Sr. (AKA The Old Buzzard)  I was throwing a square bill crank bait in a shad color ticking the top of the weeds and caught a limit early. One of the keys was to tick the top of the weeds. When the sun came up I switched to the docks throwing senko's and jig's. I caught about 30 to 40 fish today to end up with my 15.26 pounds

Rounding out the top 10 boaters were:

1 Brad Brodnicki 5 20.92 250 $1798
2 Kevin Clarke 5 16.84 249 $1073
3 David W. Barnes Sr 5 15.26 248 $ 607
