Ft. Gibson is Fourth Stop for Oklahoma
Oklahoma anglers of the ABA Weekend Bass Series will make their fourth stop of the year at Ft. Gibson Lake on June 28, 2014. The event launch and weigh in will take place at Taylor Ferry North in Wagoner, OK. Registration for the event will, also, take place at Taylor Ferry North on Friday, June 27 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Sean White of Afton, OK won last year’s Ft. Gibson event on July 13, 2013. White brought a 20 pound bag to the scales to win $5000. He caught his fish on a green pumpkin Biffle Bug, a jig, and a Carolina rig around rock piles. The co-angler division of last year’s event was won by Clay Waggle of Muskogee, OK. Clay caught 11.78 pounds on a Carolina rigged green pumpkin/red Zoom Baby Brush Hog and a football jig to secure his win. More information on last year’s event can be found at this link.
Entry fees for ABA Weekend Bass Series one-day events are $200 for boaters and $100 for co-anglers. Weekend Bass Series events are open to all ABA members. Memberships may be purchased onsite at tournament registration, by calling ABA at (256) 232-0406, or by going to www.americanbassanglers.com. ABA membership dues are $25 per year and include a new member gift packet along with a subscription to American Bass Anglers magazine.
Anglers that finish the season in the top 40 points rankings will have the opportunity to advance to the WBS Regional Championship to compete for two new Triton Boats on the Red River in Alexandria, LA on October 10 & 11, 2014. Anglers can advance from the WBS Regional Championship to the Ray Scott Championship on Lake Wheeler in Decatur, AL November 12 – 15, 2014 to compete for a $100,000 first place boater prize and a $50,000 first place co-angler prize.
Anglers can also cash in on contingency programs such as Triton Gold, Atlas Awards, Royal Purple Awards, and Mercury/Motorguide bonus money.
