Todd Rose Wins on Candlewood Lake

Todd Rose won his second American Fishing Tour event this season at Candlewood Lake presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 tournament, held on June,21, 2014.
Running out of the Squantz Cove ramp landing near the town of New Fairfield, Conneticut, the Stafford Springs, Connecticut angler caught five bass weighing an impressive 17.47 pounds. Todd also caught the big bass of the tournament with a beautiful 4.11 smallmouth. For the victory, Todd took home a check for $393 for both his catch and big bass of the tournament. Todd stated he caught all his fish flipping jigs into the inside shoreline grass edge vegetation in approximately 7 to 10 feet of water.
In second among the competitors, last year’s AOY winner, Jason Martinelli of Roxbury Connecticut, caught five bass weighing 15.13 pounds with a 4.00 pound kicker. He also caught his fish flipping beaver style jigs near balls of fry on the inside weed cover edges.  Jason earned a check for $146.
Taking third place, 2012 AOY winner and Shimano Team Experience Member, Chris Bielert of Danbury Connecticut, caught five bass weighing 14.75 pounds. Gary McClarran also from Stafford Springs Connecticut finished fourth with his best personal effort at Candlewood to date with 13.97 and Tom Dupuis rounded out the top five with 5 smallmouth weighing in at 11.75 pounds.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held July 12, 2014 at Lake Lillinonah near Bridgewater, Connecticut.
