Billy Barrett Wins at Mashpee/Wakeby Pond
Athens, Al - Billy Barrett of West Bridgewater, MA won the American Fishing Tour Massachusetts - New England division 5 tournament with five bass limit weighed-in at 16.52 pounds held on Mashpee Wakeby on 05/25/2014.
Second place went to Tom Derocher who weighed in a limit at 15.66 Pounds. Third place was Louie Bernardo with a limit that weighed-in at 14.42 Pounds. Big bass was awarded to Deron Nicholas who weighed in a 4.12 pound largemouth bass.
Conditions: We had 65 degree air temps w/sunny, with a 10 mph SSW wind. Water temps were in the mid 60s.
Winning Strategy: Billy targeted his fish in shallows at first but when the sun peeked out from the clouds, he adjusted as the fish went 15 feet, he followed them & caught them on an LTD jig. Even w/engine trouble, he stayed the course, culled out 3 limits. He also dedicated this tournament who passed away on this date, 25 years ago.

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points.
